It seems that acclaimed designer fashion label Manish Arora has upset a few Hindus at the depiction of the image of Lord Shiva in Nataraja form on leggings, harem-pants and skirts.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was disturbing to see image of Lord Shiva, on the legs, Shiva was meant to be worshiped in temples or home shrines and not to be desecrated by wearing on the legs and other lower parts of the body for the mercantile greed of a fashion house.
Zed further said that in view of his Indian heritage, Manish Arora should have known better the significance of Lord Shiva and how much venerated he was among Hindus.
Many designer labels feature religious deities on their clothing, as a Hindu I wouldn’t wear it personally. With that said I also am not offended when I see others wearing, I understand that it just doesn’t have the same meaning for them.
